FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
First Holy Communion is the second of the three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation) which complete an individual's membership into the Catholic Community.
First Communion is one of the most important occasions in a Catholic’s life. It means that a person has received the Sacrament of the Eucharist, the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. Most Catholic children receive their First Communion when they’re seven or eight years of age because this is considered the age of reason. Others can receive communion for the first time after meeting all the Church’s requirements. Adults who convert to Catholicism may receive their First Communion at the same time as their Baptism and Confirmation, often during the Easter Vigil Mass.
Requirements for First Holy Communion include: being baptized, completing First Communion sacramental preparation classes and materials, first reconciliation, and attending mass.
