Pastoral Council A group of 10 elected and 3 appointed lay members of the Parish who, with the Pastor, clergy and staff, carry forward the mission and ministry of Christ and his Church in the parish community. It is a consultative body governed by its constitution in accordance with diocesan policies that makes recommendations to the Pastor regarding the life and mission of the parish. As such, it encourages a network of communication within the parish and surrounding community and serves as a forum for dialogue among the parishioners, the Pastor, the clergy, and staff.
Ken BorickElected at Large (Second term ends July 2009). Ken Borick is currently employed as Vice President of Operations – NW Florida for The St. Joe Company where he performs a variety of work related to developing and operating communities such as WaterColor and WaterSound. Ken previously spent five years as Legal Counsel for The St. Joe Company. Prior to St. Joe, Ken spent seven years with The Walt Disney Company in Orlando working on various Disney real estate projects. Ken also spent over five years in the private practice of law in Hilton Head Island, SC. Ken obtained a Jurist Doctorate degree (cum laude) from Wake Forest University School of Law and his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Clemson University. Ken and his wife Laurie have been members of St. Rita's parish for five years are the proud parents of four children - Reagan, Ellie, Jay and Luke. Felita Asteinza
Liturgical Ministries (First term ends July 2008) Felita Asteinza is a Spanish teacher at South Walton High School. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Americas in Mexico City, Mexico and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University. Felita has over 20 years experience as a religious education catechist. Felita and her husband Jerry moved to St. Rita Parish in August, 2003. They have a daughter Felici, a junior at Florida State University, and a son Jerry Michael. Felita has served more than 20 years as a CCD teacher. She is the coordinator of the St. Rita Centering Prayer Group, serves as a lector, Eucharistic minister, sacristan, and mass coordinator for Sunday liturgies and if that’s not enough she is also a member of the St.Rita prayer group. Joe Colello, Jr.
Men’s Club (Second term ends July 2009) Joe is a retired 25 year Army Officer who also worked for Hallmark Cards for 18 years, completed his second career as Human Resource Director for Hallmark International. He and his wife Lyn have two married daughters and three grandchildren. Joe and Lyn joined St. Rita in 1997 when they retired . Joe serves as a Lector, Eucharistic minister, past President of the St. Rita's Men's Club and Joe is a 4th Degree Knight. Joe's passions include fishing, woodworking, cooking and entertaining family and friends. Dave Delahoussaye
Elected at Large (second term ends July 2008) Dave is the son of Thomas and Lois Delahoussaye. He was born February 23 1953 in Lafayette Louisiana. Attended Southwestern Louisiana University there he studied Interior Architecture. Dave worked for the Hilton Corporation for 18 years in Lake Charles and New Orleans La. He moved to Destin in 1989, married is wife Linda in October of 94. They have a son James Patrick. Dave started up a carpentry and woodworking business and is now self employed. He joined St. Rita's Parish in 1995 and serves as a Perish Council Member, lector, Eucharistic minister, and Sacristan, and also participates in the choir. In his free time he enjoys motorcycling. Juan Carlos Delgadillo Hispanic Ministry (First term ends July 2008) Jasmine Carroll Jim KellyCouncil President Second term will end July 2009 Jim has been a parishener at St.Rita since 1999. Graduated St.Ignatius Loyola, Chicago, Ill. He has been involved with the automotive aftermarket since the early 60's. He sold his company, Custom Wheels - American Racing, in 1988 stayed on for 8 years to run it. He fully retired in 2000 and now has time to spend with his wife, three children and 12 grand children and 1 great grandchild. Jim has been active with the disaster recovery team of St.Rita, Knights of Columbus and from time to time is able to help his wife Mary with her duties with St.Vincent de Paul society. ![]() Teresa Leo Council of Catholic Women (Second term ends July 2008) Theresa and her husband and best friend, Ross have lived in the parish for 9 years. Theresa has a daughter, Tammy Smoyer and three grandsons, Christopher, Cody and Mychael. She also has two stepchildren Dana and David and a stepgrandaughter, Kristin. Theresa has earned a BA and MA from the University of Montevallo, a nursing degree RN from Pensacola Junior College. She has been a certified Legal Nurse Consultant from Malazzio Institute. She taught speech and theatre at the high school level and taught speech at two universities. She has developed two Durable Medical Equipment companies and practiced nursing in hospital and clinic settings. Theresa is a lector, Eucharistic minister and part of our wonderful music ministry here at St. Rita’s. She is a former religious education teacher and presently serves as president of the Council of Catholic Women at St. Rita’s and is active in the diocese. In her spare time, she enjoys music, gardening, baking, theatre, swimming, R-V'ing, crocheting, knitting, decorating and games. She loves to play backgammon. ![]() Shonda Trantina
Appointed Position (First term ends July 2009)
Patrick McCarthyFinance Committee (Second term ends July 2008) Patrick grew up in the Southern Baptist faith in Panama City before moving to South Carolina in high school. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of South Carolina – Aiken in 1994 and Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1997. While in law school, Patrick completed the RCIA process and was confirmed into the Church at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Columbia, South Carolina. Patrick practiced law in the areas of commercial and products liability litigation with the firm of Nelson Mullins in Columbia, South Carolina before moving back to the Florida panhandle in 2002 to begin a career in real estate development. Patrick is co-owner of Barefoot Development Group. Patrick’s recent developments include Adagio and Andante in South Walton and Villa Coyaba in Destin. Patrick’s wife of 10 years Jennifer teaches kindergarten at Butler Elementary. They live in Seacrest Beach and joined St. Rita’s Parish in 2005. |
